This recent archaeomagnetic study of the Ishtar Gate has provided crucial clarification regarding its construction phases and overall timeline. Historically, inscriptions on some bricks attributed the gate to King Nebuchadnezzar II (reigned 605–562 BCE), but the multi-phased construction raised questions about how long the project took and if it was completed within his lifetime.
